4-Day Mount Rinjani Trek: Sembalun to Torean Route
If you prefer a more comfortable pace, the 4-day trek is your best choice. It covers the same iconic route from Sembalun to Torean as the 3-day trip but is much less exhausting.
The trek begins in Sembalun Village, situated at an altitude of 1,100 meters. Along this route, you will be treated to vast, breathtaking landscapes. The trail features a long, relatively flat path across open meadows, which can get quite hot during the day. To reach the crater rim at 2,600 meters, you will need excellent stamina, as the trail requires conquering five steep and challenging hills.
On the second day, your ultimate challenge begins with the summit attack to reach 3,726 meters. Starting at 2:00 AM, you will hike through the night to catch the spectacular sunrise from the peak. What sets the 4-day program apart from the 3-day itinerary is this afternoon's schedule. Instead of rushing all the way down to the lake after the grueling summit climb, you will stay another night at the crater rim base camp to rest. While going straight to the lake is technically possible, beginners usually find it overwhelming since the second day is the most tiring leg of the journey.
On the third day, you will continue your journey down to the lake and head towards Savana Propok to camp. Along the way, you will have plenty of time to relax in the natural hot springs and enjoy lunch before heading to the Savana Propok campground. Alternatively, you can choose to camp at Barisan Nangka if you need to finish early on the final day to catch a flight or a fast boat to Bali.
